Story Coaching

Every story you will ever tell has you as its secret source. Wanting that story to do well in the world is one thing, but even better is the business of listening and watching and waiting for the moment when the story surprises you, when it reveals something about yourself, something you imagined and yet never could have predicted. And the beauty is that anyone in the world can do it, anyone willing to pick up a pen or open a computer and begin typing. Everyone has a story just like everyone has a soul.

The magic is in the making.

Are you ready to be astonished?

For over 30 years, I’ve taught the basics of story and structure in colleges, high schools, trade schools, corporate meeting rooms, advertising agencies, summer writing workshops and sometimes in a coffee shop if the need was urgent. I’ve offered my services to novelists, filmmakers, animators, graphic novelists, makers of life-saving vaccines, photographers, playwrights, educators, social justice activists and to anyone who felt that they had a story to tell. Because I’ve had the good fortune to work in many different formats and platforms over the years, I’ve learned how to assist others in the discovery and diagnosis of their own stories,
regardless of the form.

If you’re determined to tell a story that won't leave you alone, if you find yourself leaning into the invisible, if you've read something here that sparks your interest, please consider reaching out to me. In that first conversation, we’ll see if working together makes sense to us both.

The story wants to tell you something.
